Gathering together evidence of the practical value of human rights in the UK, our 2010 annual conference will explore the real potential of human rights to help improve public services, breathe fresh life into campaigns and devolve power to the people. It will expose compelling examples of human rights in action and provide delegates from public, voluntary and community organisations with the practical tools for putting human rights to good use.
The day will feature:
- Influential keynote speakers
- Testimony from people who have used human rights in practice
- A range of interactive sessions and participatory workshops
- Practical tools to help work on equalities
- The chance to share experiences of putting human rights into practice
- Opportunities to network with a diverse range of delegates
The conference will demonstrate the practical difference that human rights can make and build the capacity of a broad range of organisations to replicate and develop this good practice.
It is aimed at:
- Leaders, policy and communications staff from all sectors
- Charity and voluntary sector organisations, especially those focused on tackling inequality and discrimination and campaigning organisations.
- Public bodies including national and local government, healthcare providers, inspectorates and monitoring bodies
- Media professionals
- Academics and post-graduate students
- Think tanks
- Professional membership bodies and trade unions
Confirmed speakers include Lord McNally, Justice Minister with responsibility for human rights and civil liberties. A full programme for the day will be available shortly.
