As part of BIHR’s Community Programme 2022-2025, we want to strengthen the agency and voice of community and voluntary groups across the UK to address social justice issues using human rights.

We are approaching an important phase of this programme where BIHR will be partnering with four community and voluntary groups to co-design a human rights support solution that will integrate and embed the Human Rights Act into their ongoing work to tackle a specific issue affecting them and the people they support. This work is funded by the Baring Foundation.

This event will take place on Zoom.

At this event, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about BIHR’s previous work to co-design support solutions with 10 vibrant and varied organisations;
  • Hear directly from community groups about how they are taking a human rights-based approach to tackling specific issues affecting migrants, disabled people, people experiencing poverty, minoritized communities, and more.
  • Be the first to find out about BIHR’s 2024 cycle of co-designing a support solution! We have 4 spaces on this year’s co-design programme. On this event, we’ll tell you how the programme will work and how you can apply on behalf of your community group.

In 2023, BIHR partnered with All Wales People First, ATD Fourth World, Fair Justice System for Scotland, Families in Trauma and Recovery, Migrants Rights Network, and My Life My Choice. Each of these community groups sought to embed human rights in their work supporting communities affected by a range of issues when interacting with UK public services.

Here’s what they had to say about the co-design process:

“I hoped we would have an equal role in co-designing the programme and this definitely happened. All of our expectations were met.”

"We will be using this at every event we have, we will also be
using it with our service users and will also be distributing this
to all the local services we work alongside. We will also be
promoting this on social media too."
