Jacob Charnick
Jacob joined BIHR in 2023 as a Human Rights Officer.
Jacob has a background in human rights legal research and consultancy, and experience in the public sector through administering welfare benefits. Jacob also has academic human rights experience.
What Jacob brings to BIHR
- Extensive experience of developing training programs and workshops around the practical application of human rights legislation for different audiences.
- Academic and practical knowledge of human rights law at both a national and international level.
- Experience of working in the public sector and providing public services.
Jacob previously worked as a human rights legal researcher and consultant for a specialist sustainability, business and human rights consultancy. This involved developing training and webinars for a range of clients to help them understand and comply with human rights and sustainability regulations. This role had a particular focus on modern slavery and forced labour.
Jacob holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Sussex. His master’s dissertation focused on the way in which the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill undermines the right to protest in the UK. Jacob won an academic award for the highest grade obtained in his dissertation and on the course overall.
